Scott Watson, the White Knight author, has tried to make this version more under-stand-able for the casual user. Figure (Click *) shows a dialog window that White Knight 11 displays while dialing a call. This compares with the small window with the phone number with the Hayes Modem command in it with the word ‘dialing’ in Red Ryder 10.3. He has cleaned up other confusing areas too. The serial settings dialog box used to be so busy that you had trouble finding what you wanted even if you knew what it was. In White Knight 11 the pop-up menus make it easy to make or change you serial settings. Knight 11 now has a menu (or keyboard command) selection to fix this situation. As you can see in the figure (Click here to see it *) you can send strings to the modem to hang_up or initialize the modem. If you have ever tried to use White Knight to let someone call you to do a file transfer you will appreciate the selection to send a string to set up auto_answer.
One last item that has probably cause much file transfer ‘sitting’. Red Ryder 10.3 tells you estimated time until the file transfer is completed.
